The Foster Program is a stream of volunteers across the nation who volunteer their time and homes when a request is made in their area regarding housing abused or abandoned rats and or mice. We do not pay volunteers to house these animals. All volunteers must have knowledge regarding the proper care of the species they choose to foster, and must not be involved in reptile keeping/feeding or any other activity which could be dangerous to the health and well-being of these lovely animals.
When you volunteer as a foster care giver, your name, address, telephone number, and email address are added to our official list and when we are contacted about a rescue situation we consult the list to see who has volunteered in that area. All volunteers in that area will be contacted and told of the situation in the hopes that one of more foster care givers will step forward and rescue the animals in need of good homes.
The foster care givers with rats/mice in their homes can either decide to keep the fosters as their own pets, or they can actively seek new, loving homes for them. If the latter is the chosen option, RAMC will make a big effort to help in any way we can.
If you would like to volunteer as a foster care giver, please email halftime@enter.net with your full name, address, telephone number, email address, which species you would like to foster, the number you are able to foster, and any other pertinent information (including experience, clubs you belong to and so forth.). Please also let us know if you want your information posted on this, or if you want us to privately contact you if there are rodents in need of a home in your area of where you live.
